An Ipswich-based business lender has said they are investing in local sporting excellence as hometown heavyweight star Fabio Wardley prepares for his career-defining fight against Justis Huni at Portman Road next month.
Fleximize, which has provided over £550 million in funding to SMEs since 2014, has announced its sponsorship of Wardley ahead of the historic stadium showdown on June 7th. The match represents the first major boxing event at Ipswich Town's home ground in decades.
"As an Ipswich business that's grown from a small team to employing over 90 people, we understand what it takes to overcome challenges and achieve growth," said Peter Tuvey, CEO of Fleximize. "Fabio's journey from Ipswich to the biggest stage in boxing mirrors the ambition we see in the small businesses we support every day."
The fight against undefeated Australian Huni, due to be broadcast live worldwide on DAZN on Saturday June 7th, will showcase Suffolk sporting talent on a global platform. For Fleximize, the partnership reinforces the company's East Anglian heritage and commitment to backing local success stories.
Supporting local talent and seeing potential where others might not is fundamental to who we are at Fleximize," added Mr Tuvey. "As a company founded and grown right here in Ipswich, we're particularly proud to stand behind a hometown athlete as he takes this momentous step in his career”.
Wardley's contest against WBO world No.1 contender Huni is part of a packed card featuring Olympic medallists and championship bouts. The event is expected to draw thousands of spectators to Portman Road and reach millions of viewers globally.
